Infiniti Movement
and Love Bimma's boat ride was a success.
The early rain and thunderstorm forecast from the weatherman really put
a damper on an event that we believe would have been tremendously more
successful than it was. Well you know rain don't stop anything in foreign.
Anyway, those
who braved it (because the rain didn't fall as predicted) said to hell
with the rain had themselves a wicked time. From the get go, we heard Freddie
McGregor's "Big Ship" start the cruise then JohnSilver
taking over the wheels of steel from Tullo Bimma to continue giving
the crowd the music they paid to hear. They heard a mix of reggae that
featured Beres Hammond's "One
Dance", George Nooks' "Change
My Mind", Ed Robinson's "Knocking
on Heaven's Door", Sanchez thrilling the ladies
letting them know they were "One In A Million",
Thriller U's "I'll Prove It to You"
which we did with music from the early 80s, 90s into the millennium. We
had old school R&B, studio 1s for the over 35 crowd who really enjoyed
themselves. Then came the 23 and over crowd who were bouncing to the pulsating
beats of Capleton, Elephant Man, Beenie Man right into a double dose of
Next with "Wifey and Too Close". The
ladies were off the hook. I have received several calls from people to
say it was the best event they've been to all year and I must get them
a copy of the video tape. The music was right, food was right and the cruising
up the Hudson to the Statue of Liberty really made the trip worth it. There
were more women on this boatride than guys. Where were the men? Who needed
them when we had the girls "brucking out" and waving off dem matey. We
saw a few people running along the pier trying to catch the boat after
it started moving out of the dock. Sorry, but next year you should be early
so you don't get left. For all the support we got, I would like to say
BIG
BIG THANKS! We are already contemplating two dates for next
year's boatride. It is either going to be July 14 or August 18 of 2001.
Again, thanks for the support. Our next hired boatride will be on August
6 of this year. Again, this is a hired event.
Destiny's Child Latest Saga!
What the fuck is going on
with this group I just found out they fired their last two hires who were
brought in to replace Latavia and Latoya. I need a skateboard to keep up
with these girls. Aren't you guys glad you aren't married to these girls?
I am cause I would certainly choke somebody. I will get more about them
and let you know
-
Kelendria Rowland (Kelly), born
2/11/81, is said to be of a sensitive nature.
-
LaTavia Robertson, born 11/1/81,
is said to be the sassy member of the group.
-
LeToya Luckett, born 3/11/81,
is said to be the wild and crazy one of the group. The others say "there
is never a dull moment when La toya is around." She is also is a firm believer
in God.
-
Beyoncé Knowles, born
9/4/81, is nicked named the "mother" of the group. Her father (Matthew
Knowles) is the manager of the group and executive producer of their first
album . She has also produced part of the 2nd album.
Lawsuit
Filed! Well the latest on the almost defunct group is that LeToya
and LaTavia have filed an official lawsuit. The suit names Beyonce, Kelandria,
and Beyonce's father Matthew Knowles, the group's manager. The suit claims
that Kelly and Beyonce set out on various talk shows and forums bent on
destroying their names and career. LaTavia and LeToya said they did not
withdraw from the group even after all the malicious acts to force them
out of the group as is being reported. They say it was about a month after
when Kelly, Beyonce and Matthew Knowles brought in Farrah Franklin and
Michelle Williams, the new members, that they left the group. Since then
LaTavia and LeToya have been appearing on MTV, BET, VH-1 and other media
to set the record straight. Just when you thought you had heard everything,
it was founded that LaTavia and LaToya did not finish school as was required.
The manager is supposed to bring in a tutor to meet the standard requirements
for them to receive their high school diplomas. Another spin on this is
that Columbia had to shut down the group's website because of an overwhelming
amout of hate mail directed at Beyonce and Kelly.

Ryder's First Lady Eve will be going to Jamaica again for what they say
is a "working holiday". Eve dropped her latest song June 27 on the
Ryde or Die album. The last time she was in Jamaica she worked for Solid
Agency's "Reloaded". Eve is supposedly starring in Renaissance's
"Clock Strikes" which is a year-to-year event at Mas Camp
on July 22nd in good old Kingston. Eve was quoted as saying "I made a lot
of friends down there the last time and I'm sure we gonna make some more!"
Well, Eve made it to Jamaica and she certainly, according to my sources
who are in Jamaica, did very well on stage. Eve is supposedly contemplating
buying property in Jamaica.
TLC
for T-Boz of the group TLC. T-Boz is pregnant which was,
according to her, a surprize! Shit a surprize? Didn't you or DID you not
feel a piece of rod between your legs? Maybe her boyfriend's got a small
dick. What the...?! Well, what was surprizing about you getting pregnant?
Tell us. She said she suffers from sickle cell anemia. This is not a requirement
or some form of new birth control? Helloooo! She said a friend got suspicious
after she noticed her eating some monster subway sandwiches and told her
to take an xray. Tboz was quoted as saying "I just hope that my
child doesn't have an attitude problem like I did. I'm scared I'm gonna
get it back,... what I put my Momma through." Chilli (Rozonda Thomas),
will be giving me my baby shower. She also states she should be married
by the end of the summer to boyfriend/fiance "Mack 10". TBoz is
in good spirits and we hope you sit your ass down and take it easy. We
wouldn't want a miscarriage?!! Would we? We are happy for her and
hope the kid is no Scrub!!!

Trooper is contemplating clashing Mighty Crown, who defeated
him at World Clash 1999. Trooper said he is anxious to play Might Crown
again as he believes their win was a fluke. So be it, Trooper also said
he intends to reach Fully Loaded with a box of dub plates and if the promoters
don’t let him play he’s gonna fight. Solid Agency (the promoters) have
let it be known in the media that any artistes and sound systems who who
shows up but is not a part of show will not perform. More on Fully Loaded
this weekend.
Tanya
Stephens have INSOMNIA.
I didn't realize that Tanya Stephens was that funny. I heard about her
website INSOMNIA.
and decided to pay it a visit. This was some of the most seriously funny
comments made from someone directly involved in the music industry. Tanya
comments on everyone from Promoters, Artistes down to the Awards show.
Check out her website and see for yourself. People tend to label people
and they did with Tanya saying she is male bashing and she is a lesbian.
I think she speaks her mind and like Elephant Man say "De truth hurts,
who can't tek it better splut"! Big up again Tanya Stephens.

Trooper Leaves Killamanjaro. After
listening to an interview on dancehallreggae.com, I knew the inevitable
was about to happen. The last few months saw Trooper dedicating more time
to his Troopers Movement. A few dances ago Trooper asked a Brooklyn dancehall
if his decision was wrong or right. The place got quiet! It was the general
consensus among the fans talking that even though they thought he should
remain with Jaro, you could also hear they agreed with Trooper. From the
interview on dancehallreggae.com, Trooper made it known that he was the
one spending his money to keep Jaro going and that Mr. Harper wasn't too
thrilled with the direction Trooper was taking in the early runnings when
he just started playing the sound. Trooper stated that it was time to move
along as he and Mr. Harper's direction of Jaro was different. Trooper is
rated as the top sound killers in the business. Trooper said from now on
"Its all about Sound Troopers". Trooper said his venture is different from
other selectors because he will not be walking with dubs but will have
his own sound, his own killing machine. He advised that the return clash
that the massives have been anticipating between King Addies and Bass Odyssey
will not happen with him around Killamanjaro but on his own sound. When
asked if he met Jaro in a dance what would happen and he replied "How yuh
mean, mi a kill dat, Jaro an dem guh suck dem mumma too." Freddie will
now be at the wheels of Killamanjaro. Freddie's dead list is growing with
Amplex, Rockstar, Soundwave, Jah Creation. In July Freddie will face Mighty
Crown in New York at Champions In Action.
Stonewall
meets Bass Odyssey in the Bronx this Saturday in the Bronx.
Stonewall hails from Antigua and if anyone has been following dancehallreggae.com
chatroom, they will see there has been a hype going on about this dance
which is a appropriately named "Clash of two Giants" They will meet at
the Grand Tyre Hall at 2050 Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
I believe this dance will bring out the ruthless and diehard Jamaicans
and Antiguans in New York. After such a hype, Stonewall selectors better
come good since Bass Odyssey will be looking to destroy anything in their
path after the recent defeat by the upcoming sound Little Rock.
THE
STONEWALL BASS ODYSSEY OUTCOME! First
of all, Bass Odyssey arrived without Squingy. As is customary in
the Bronx, the dance didn't get started until a little after 2:00am (aren't
we lucky. Sometimes it doesn't even start until 3:00am). Stonewall was
juggling but wasn't that impressive at first. A new member of Odyssey
named Worm said to Stonewall "You think a suh yuh play fi kill sound".
Bass Odyssey took the first half hour segment. Stonewall tried to play
out most of Bass Odyssey killing tunes from early. They played some good
dubs but something was missing as when they drew Beenie Man's "Crazy",
a tune that can be pulled up at least x-amount of times they didn't get
the response they hoped for. Easy does it as Bass Odyssey continued their
lead in the 15 minute segment as Odyssey tried to sick Stonewall with dubs
on the 'Sick' riddim in the second fifteen. Stonewall wasn't looking good
at all. In the dub for dub segment Stone Wall turned back Bass Odyssey
with a Freddie McGregor counteraction. Stonewall's selector, Berger said
"A dem time a morning me start kill because no sound dont have belly like
Stone Wall". Guess what? A fight broke out in the dance which ended the
night. See you later at the return dance.
4X
Tight Dance a Success.
June 16, 2000. I was there, were you? I made a special effort to go this
dance because I was impressed with the entourage of ladies that made up
this group. They didn't disappoint. They all came looking sexy and alluring.
The dance didn't start until about 2:45. Yep, 2:45am. Tippatone, Afrique,
First Class and InfraRed provided the juggling. Tippatone kept the massives
moving as did Afrique who joined in combination with First Class. InfraRed
also did well in their segment. We saw a massive of girls in the dance
that were doing their thing and showing the thing in their short shorts.
I stood just content to observe. It was about 5:30am when I decided to
leave and let the girls do thier thing. Congratulations again to the 4x
Tight Girls Crew. See you on my Boatride July 15, 2000.
July 1, 2000, Fresh Kidz promotions
will be inside El Oceano in the Bronx. This event
is expected to be corked. It's been well promoted and I will let you know
how it turned out. PS, yours truly,
INFINITI MOVEMENT
along
with LOVE BIMMA, will be juggling
inside the house along with New York's top sounds Afrique,
Tippatone, Klassique, First Class, Infrared and a few other
sounds. So all who never hear we play come and see. Performing will be
the Fresh Kidz themselves.
July 2, 2000, Guinness Carifest
will be having their stage show at Downing Stadium/Randall Islands just
over the Triboro Bridge in Manhattan. They have a star studded line up
that involves some R&B, the Hip Hop community and a host of Reggae
artistes.
WAYNE
WONDER TURNS PRODUCER. Singer Wayne Wonder released his
first effort as a producer on the "SINGSO"
label with a new riddim named "Ambush". There are about 9 artistes on the
riddim: Himself, Frankie Sly, Babycham are the most played
on air so far. The riddim also features Tonto Metro & Devonte, Mr Easy,
Nitty Kutchie, Alley Cat, new artistes Demo Delgado and Alias Showki Ru.
There have been an increasing number of artistes turning producer and producing
their own riddims as well as their own shows. I hope this trend will lead
to more "danceable" music instead of the "head bouncing" and also help
to reduce the glut of garbage music that are being released. This will
also give the artistes more control creatively and financially. This is
an area where producers have prospered over musicians in the past. There
have been a lot of artiste-promoted stage shows in Jamaica. It seem like
the entertainers will soon have the dancehall business locked for themselves.
Prestige
Ladies Presents their G-String Bash.
Thong, thong, thong is what we will be seeing this Friday 5/26/00. Studs
Promotion from out of the Bronx will showcase the ladies that dare to bare
in Club Mantra in the Bronx. Providing the weather is nice, we should be
seeing the intimate side of the ladies. Keeping the gentleman and the ladies
busy will be the Prestige Ladies. Concord
sound system who already knows the Bronx will be doing the juggling along
with the three top female sound systems who are experienced with beach,
outdoor, and pool parties. You can bet I will be there. I just love women!
This is the time of the year that I love New York... the females expecially
that will make me not forget they have the loveliest shapes in the world.
Car
Wash Bash. Saturday, June 10, 2000, was a nice day. Nice enough
for everyone to come out at the first outdoor event of the summer at the
"Car Wash" in Mt. Vernon behind the now defunct Caldors (now K-Mart) shopping
center. I was there earlier, about 5 p.m., to check out the set up and
early juggling done by City Star sound
system. I left and returned later after picking up my sparring partner
of Infiniti Movement, Chris Love, who
is never without his lady friends. Lucky dog! After I got back, I saw all
kinds of girls in their tights and short shorts. I said "yes, summer deh
yah". I saw Tony of TC Connection,
4x
Tight Girls Crew (I had to ask if it means dem poon tang
4 times extra tight?). They will be having their dance
this week, June 16, 2000. Don't miss it! Yow! Men these girls are sexy.
I would like to say big up to the sexy browning ROCHELLE
and the dark princesses sexy CUE'T, SHADEE
and "slim 'til it buff" PEPSI from
the crew. There were about 15 girls from the crew in attendance at this
event but I did not get everyone's name. These girls will make you walk
with your hands in your pocket! I would like to say respect to them all
cause "dem got it going on!" Also on hand were the Fresh
Kidz crew -- Tullo and Markie.
They introduced the new dance called the HBO.
Wicked! If you have never seen these guys perform, you are definitely missing
something. Also showing her dancing skills that had the guys tongues hanging
was Cheryl who had some of the latest dances (the girl can wine) coming
fresh out of Jamaica. Next Dancehall Queen!? City Star took the massives
back to the 60s thru the 70s, 80s, 90s and into the Millennium with some
nice juggling. Here We Go! As
you know there are always some cons when you go to these events. The music
was intermittently stopped to ask the slew of motorists who insisted on
parking on the streets instead of in the car lots which was a hawk and
spit away from where the music was playing. This resulted in the cops coming
by and ticketing some cars. The party ended prematurely about 1:30am when
someone decided to fire shots into the air because they wanted to go home
so they felt everybody else should go home too. What the hell... Can you
blame Giuliani for the way he is? Overall the event was a success. |
