Way Low as Shaggy's Hotshot dethrones Lopez. It's true Shaggy
have managed to cut short Jennifer Lopez's reign after six months on the
top 200 boards. Shaggy's "Hotshot"
album sold just under 246,000 copies during the week ended Sunday 2.12.01,
according to SoundScan figures. That's up 15% from the previous week's
sales number, and it brings Shaggy within 200,000 copies of triple-platinum
territory. Meanwhile, sales of Lopez's sophomore effort, "J.Lo"
dropped by more than a third from the prior week to 179,000. The actress/singer
had basked in the glow of a double success last week, when "J.Lo"
and her film "The Wedding Planner"

Is Shaggy Funking Funk Group War and Saying "It Wasn't Me"! What an appropriate title for Ric Rock (Ricardo Ducent) and Shaggy's runaway hit. The song has sold over 3 million copies (Triple Platinum). And just when he thought it would be safe to run to his piggy bank, a funk group by the name of War --who's been around since the mid-70s-- says the mega hit single have sampled bars of their song "Smile Happy"... some horns and other instruments from one of their songs which you hear at the beginning of "It Wasn't Me". Shaggy's manager Robert Livingston will be in discussion with the group to see if any copyright have been violated. Somebody is smiling... The coincidence is War was signed to MCA Records -- the same one Shaggy is signed to-- what a cow-incidence. Do I hear someone getting shagged and being told to Smile Happy-ily about it? He is trying to maximise the spotlight that has been thrust upon him, and has been voicing like crazy. He is now saying that he will do local shows and a Crowning of Merciless dance has been planned. However, the dance was slated to be held in Town, but Merciless is insisting that it be held in his stomping ground - Clarendon. The threat of Bounty Killer appearing at any venue Merciless is booked for has been having a great effect on Merciless - as he hasn't appeared anywhere since Sting, which must be a tactic that will work against him. Bounty has continued his onslaught of War songs. " I call this careless talk. Merciless hiding? They didn't say that when he crucified the 3 top DJs at Sting.
